Despite all 3 areas having a large single female population the dating experiences were What is the dating scene like in minneapolis different.

NY: Very easy to meet extremely attractive women for a date. Jersey City: Difficult to get a date. Atlanta: Difficult to get a date at bars or clubs nightlife Easier during the day doing casual things daytime events, activities I found Atlanta and the New Jersey area to be frustrating when it came to dating. I don't need a whole lot of women, I just want an easy time dating the women that are available. A good example of what I mean: I don't want to be somewhere that has 50 women and only 5 are willing to date me. I would prefer a place with 25 women and 20 are willing to date me.

League54 I don't know how to compare it to those cities except to say it's no New York. Maybe Atlanta would be the closest, but Minneapolis has less transplants. But, those are all bigger metro areas. It's probably on par with most of the metro areas of the same size, but punches above it's weight compared to other mid-western cities and lags behind similar sized cities on the coast like San Diego and Portland.

You're a young professional who wants to live in the city.

There are tens of thousands of people your age living in the city I can attest to this If you're 35 and single, then maybe you will struggle, especially if you're out in the burbs or nestled deep in residential areas of south Minneapolis in itself very suburban in nature. But if you're actively out and What is the dating scene like in minneapolis and an outgoing person, you're going to find dates. Maybe not a different girl every night. But quality over quantity, I hope. If you are over 40 and female, the single scene is pathetic. That's one of the reasons I plan to get the hell out of there.

Also, the winter sucks. A new ish article in the New York Times on the Minneapolis dating scene seems to imply that we are a bunch of slutty hipsters. It kind of goes against the perceptions of a lot of Minnesotans, but I think there is probably more truth to it than some would like to admit. Go to Lake Calhoun on a nice day in the summer.

Then go to a Twins game. I don't care if you like baseball. And I don't care if the team is terrible. Go to a Twins game. That NY Times article is hilarious. It re like a National Geographic article describing some primitive culture.

I think whether or not the singles scene is good depends where you are in life. If you're in your 20's, then yes, I'd say it is fine. But in your 30's, it changes, and it's not just a question of being in Minneapolis vs. As has been mentioned, people here do seem to pair off relatively early on compared to other big cities I did. There are a lot of places and activities that cater to singles in their 20's, but not so much for people who are older, so it definitely takes more effort to meet people. I met my SO through a dating site, so that method worked pretty well for us.

Re: the NYT article, that rings true for a of people I knew in my 20's. A lot of married couples I know first met each other as friends when dating other people. Well, I'm 30 years old and moved back to Minnesota 3 weeks ago after being gone for 7 years. I have no friends from high school so it is just like I'm an outsider!

I'm confident that things will be okay. It's a new adventure. Plus, I lived in Mormonland and everyone marries early. You are considered a crazy cat lady if you aren't married by Mormon or not. I had no problem dating in Utah so I'm hopeful it'll be better in the Twin Cities. Please register to post and access all features of our very popular forum. It is free and quick.
